Oregon Football 1997.....

We continued to grow as a Program. This season included the game at #6 Washington and the Akili Smith to Patrick Johnson to win the game. It would mean heading to Las Vegas as a reward for all the hard work.  I rewrote the lyrics from the 1995 season to reflect what had occurred for the year. A little lazy, these lyrics, frankly, were not the best; oh well..havin' fun regardless!

Las Vegas was a fun trip for fans and players alike as we celebrated together....The first two offensive plays in the Bowl Game resulted in touchdowns for Oregon. One via pass and one via run. It was great fun for all. There would be bigger years that lie ahead...

Go Ducks.

              The Lyrics...

Jerry Allen makes the call
Across the land on radio.
The game is heard for miles
Around on weekends.

We hear the Ducks make many plays,
Exciting and much more.
Don't we all remember...
"Kenny Wheaton's gonna score!"

'Zona came to Autzen
Season had begun
Salladin McCullough
Proved that he's the one.

First play of the season,
Oh lordy, looky here!
Sollie had his teammates
Grinnin' ear to ear!

The team flew off to Reno
It was a brand new season.
Ups and downs - they came in waves
There had to be a reason.

The Goal again a bowl game
At the end of the round.
Independence, Roses, Cotton,
Vegas bound!

Akili Smith and Jason
Made the football sing.
Everybody loved the
Great offensive scheme.
Peter Sirmon proved
That he was all Pac-10.
Come next year
And we will do it
All again.

The Husky game - a challenge
Ducks flew on the scene.
The purple dogs would not believe
What this game means.

Eric Winn - a block that
Really saved the day
Patrick Johnson proved that
He could really play.

Now Duck Football's
Heard 'round the world
From England to Japan.
We've gained respect

 - and by the way that was the plan.

The story isn't over
And you know what we mean.
It's just the beginning
For Oregon Football...

From in Eu-gene
What a team!
